Hi, i recently formatted my hard drive and I have several drivers missing. These appear under the question mark (other devices) in windows device manager. Those missing include:
- Multimedia audio controller - Other PCI bridge controller - PCI memory controller - SM Bus controller - Video controller
Where can i find these drivers? many thanks in advance!
My PC spec is:
AMD athlon 3800+ X2 ASUS A8N-E motherboard Windows XP Media

You need the Chipset driver, in your case you need the Nvidia NForce4 driver http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_nf4_win2k_6.86.html

I checked my drivers today and found the SM Bus controller for my AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technology chip missing. Would the same nvidia download solve my problem? All other drivers seem fine and I'm not confident enough to try without asking first!

Most likely not. Since It ONLY works with Nvidia Nforce4 products. Run a nice lil program if you can, its called CPU-Z. What you need to find out is what chipset it uses

Thanks for the reply! I've just run the CPU-Z program and under the "Motherboard" heading it tells me my chipset is ATI Xpress 200 (RS480).

Hi - this is my 1st post here, and I'll be up front in that I know next to nothing about this computer... I do know we had to reinstall XP, and now my speakers don't work. Device manager shows big yellow ? for Multimedia Audio Controller & SM Bus Controller under "Other Devices"
AMD Sempron Processor 3100+
Hopefully that's enough info, but I'll find whatever else I need to - Any help's appreciated
Eric

Here's what I got under motherboard from CPU-Z:
Model - RS482-M754 Chipset - ATI - RS480 - Rev. - 10 Southbridge - ATI - SB400 Sensor - ITE - IT8712
Is that all the info you need? Where do I go from here?
Thanks again for taking the time to help me out!

Sound works great now, and no more Multimedia Audio Controller w/ big yellow '?' in device manager. Thanks a lot for your help! On the downside, I still have SM Bus Controller listed under "other devices" with a big yellow '?' ... Anything to worry about? Is this causing/result of a problem I just may not be noticing?
